Al fin means in the end, and al cabo… errr, well, it also means in the end!
Although this one’s probably got your redundancy alarms peeling full blast, it’s actually just another way of saying:
👉 ultimately / at the end of the day
And is it different from a fin de cuentas and al final de cuentas?
¡Nel! They’re used pretty much interchangeably.
🌪️ When to whip it out
Whenever you want to highlight the thing that really matters once all is said and done:
Al fin y al cabo, todos somos humanos.
At the end of the day, we’re all human.
Al fin y al cabo, ya no podemos cambiar el pasado.
