This one comes from the verb constar, which is used when something is known, established, or officially on record. Ahem, ahem, all very formal, I know. 📓 BUT the sentence-starter version is a bit like saying: 👉 Just so we’re clear… / For the record… 💡 You’re also going to hear both y conste que and que conste que. And luckily, they’re used in pretty much the same way! Que conste que te advertí, ¿eh?
Just so we’re clear, I did warn you, okay? Y conste que yo no quería venir.
And for the record, I didn’t want to come.

🌪️ When to whip it out

When you want to make something VERY clear, especially to avoid being misunderstood or to put a fact, warning, or reminder on record:

Conste que te advertí.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Conste que esta vez yo no hice nada, ¿eh?

For the record, I didn’t do anything this time, okay?

Que conste que cuando llegué ya estaba así.

Just for the record, it was already like that when I arrived.

⚠️ Tone

✅ Very common and natural in Mexico.

✅ It IS used in other Spanish-speaking countries too!

✅ Safe to use with pretty much anyone.

🛡️ Bear in mind that it can sound kinda emphatic / defensive.
