When you’ve been emphasizing everything that’s NOT going well, and then shift to what is:
La comida está fría, pero de ahí en fuera, todo excelente.
The food’s cold, but other than that, everything's excellent.
Está un poco lejos, pero de ahí en fuera, el lugar está padrísimo.
It's a bit far, but aside from that, the place is awesome.
Llegaste tarde, pero de ahí en fuera, no hay problema.
You were late, but other than that, all good.
Or vice versa:
El café estaba bueno, pero de ahí en fuera, todo estuvo horrible.
The coffee was good, but other than that, everything was horrible.
And it can also be used sarcastically:
Pues, llovió, me mojé, perdí el camión, casi me caigo… Pero de ahí en fuera, todo bien.
Well, it rained, I got drenched, I missed the bus, I almost wiped out… …but hey, other than that, all good!
Oh, and it CAN also mean from then on or after that:
— De ahí en fuera, todo fue muy diferente. — From then on, everything was completely different.
