🧠 What it means

Pssst. Wanna learn a vulgar way of saying something's awesome? Yeah, you CAN say está padre / chido / cool / genial / increíble / etc. But if you want to play on the vulgar side, you can also say está de huevos. Literally: it's of eggs… weird, I know, but I don't make the rules round here! So yeah, if something's de huevos, it's: 👉 awesome / amazing / fucking great / badass 💡 You ALWAYS need to use de huevos with estar not ser. This is very common in Mexican Spanish when expressing your subjective, personal opinion about something. 🐶 The euphemistic version of está de huevos is está de pelos… Huevos / pelos... see what I did there? Well, it wasn't actually me that invented it, but still ;)

🌪️ When to whip it out

When something's fucking awesome, that's when:

La comida está de huevos.
The food is amazing.
¡No mames, el concierto de ayer estuvo de huevos!
Wow, the concert yesterday was freaking awesome!
— ¿Cómo ves mi nuevo coche?
— ¡Está de huevos!
— What do you think of my new car?
— It's freaking awesome!

And it doesn't always need estar either…

La neta pensé que iba a estar chafa, pero quedó de huevos.
Honestly, I thought it was going to be rubbish, but it turned out great.
— ¿Qué tal la película?
— ¡De huevos!
— How was the movie?
— Fucking awesome!
