This one just means:

It’s similar to ¿qué opinas? (if not a tad more casual).
💡 It tends to sound a bit more thoughtful or neutral than ¿qué te parece?, which is more often used for plans, movies, or chill suggestions.

Whenever you’re genuinely curious about what’s going on inside someone’s head:
¿Qué piensas de la situación?
What do you think about the situation?
Estaba pensando en renunciar. ¿Qué piensas?
I was thinking about quitting. What do you think?
