¡Qué tranza!

(slang)
B1 (¡Ya le agarras la onda!)Used EVERYWHERE 🇲🇽Ñero (barrio) 🧢Slang 🌶️

🧠 What it means

¡Ojo! This one's VERY slangy! It's basically (one of the many!) Mexican ways of saying: 👉 What’s up? (barrio-style) 👉 What’s going on? / What’s the deal? It’s EXTREMELY informal and absolutely oozing with barrio / street flavour. 💡 You’ll see this chunk written as both qué transa and qué tranza. The dictionary spelling is transa, but tranza is very common in slangy, informal writing. 💀 You’ll also hear the playful extended version: ¿Qué transita por tus venas?

🌪️ When to whip it out

When you want to greet someone barrio-style:

¿Qué tranza, banda?
What’s up, guys?
¿Qué tranza, mi valedor?
What’s up, my dude?
¿Qué tranza? ¿Todo bien?
What’s up? All good?

When you want to ask what’s going on with something:

¿Qué tranza con ese wey?
What’s up with that guy?
¿Qué tranza con la tarea?
What’s the deal with the homework?
¿Qué tranza con tanto tráfico?
What’s going on with all this traffic?
