Chahuistle (cha-WEES-tle) is a type of fungus that ruins corn crops. But in modern Mexican Spanish, it means something along the lines of: 👉 we’re in big trouble now It’s normally used when something bad has just happened and there’s no going back. Yep, just like when the fungus hit the corn crops. Eeek!
