Buenas is a GENIUS way to say hello at any time of day. It’s basically short for buenos días, buenas tardes, or buenas noches. So yeah, it just means: 👉 hi / hello / hey 💡 It’s WAY easier than guessing if it’s still tarde or noche.

🌪️ When to whip it out

Any time you’re walking into a room, passing someone in the street, or starting a conversation:

Buenas.
Morning. Afternoon. Hello.
Buenas, ¿cómo está?
Hello, how are you?
¡Buenas! ¿Tiene tortillas?
Hi there! Do you have tortillas?

And yes… you can even double it for emphasis:

Buenas, buenas.
Just a fun double “buenas” for extra friendliness.
