🧠 What it means

This one’s a classic phrase that works in UN BUEN de situaciones. It can mean all of the following: 👉 How’s it going? / How are things? / What’s up? / Hey! So yeah, it’s either a simple, open-ended way to ask how someone is OR a friendly greeting

🌪️ When to whip it out

Whenever you want to say hi, break the ice, or just check in with someone:

¡Hola! ¿Qué tal?
Hey! How’s it going?

Oh, and you can also use it to ask how something specific went:

¿Qué tal el viaje?
How was the trip?
