When someone thinks you’re upset, offended, annoyed, etc., and you want to say that you’re absolutely not:
¿Cómo crees? = Of course not! / Don’t be silly!
—¿Te molestó lo que dije?
—¿Cómo crees? No. Para nada.
—Did what I said bother you?
—Of course not. No. Not at all.
—¿Estás enojado conmigo?
—Ay, ¿cómo crees? Estoy bien.
—Are you mad at me?
—No, of course not. I’m fine.
When politely rejecting an offer:
No, ¿cómo crees? = No, don’t be silly.
—Te pago la gasolina.
—Ay, no. ¿Cómo crees?
—I’ll pay you for gas.
—No, no. Don’t worry about it.
—Te invito.
—No, ¿cómo crees? Yo pago.
—Let me treat you.
—No, don’t be silly. I’ll pay.
When you’re surprised / can’t believe what you’re hearing:
¿Cómo crees? = No way! / You’re kidding!
—Luis ya renunció.
—¿Cómo crees?
—Luis already quit.
—No way!
—El taxista me cobró quinientos pesos.
—¿Cómo crees?
—The taxi driver charged me 500 pesos.
—You’re kidding!
When someone says or does something ridiculous:
¿Cómo crees que…? = What were you thinking…? / How could you think…?
✅ One of those chunks that will instantly make you sound more Mexican.
