Here’s another chunk that doesn’t map neatly onto any one English phrase. It basically means: 👉 to mess around / to have a laugh / to party 👉 to shoot the shit So yeah, you can think of it as the fun, social version of desmadre. 👵 Echar desmadre is the mildly vulgar version… if you want something abuela-approved, you'd say echar relajo.
