Don’t, whatever you do, underestimate the power of qué tal! Yes, it IS an extremely useful greeting, AND a friendly way of asking how someone is. But it’s actually so much more than that! You see, if you whack a noun on the end, you’ve got an extremely useful way of asking informal questions! It's a bit like the English: 👉 how is/how was + noun

🌪️ When to whip it out

Whenever you want to ask someone how something went or how something’s going in a casual manner:

¿Qué tal tu día?
How was your day?
¿Qué tal la fiesta?
How was the party?
¿Qué tal la chamba?
How’s work?

Oh, and it CAN actually be used with verbs too:
