🧠 What it means

This one’s about as wholesome as Mexican slang gets. And, no, it has nothing to do with your pops. 🧔‍♂️ It just means: 👉 How cool! / That’s great! / Awesome! 🤔 In casual Mexican Spanish, you’ll normally hear the indicative after qué padre que…, even though it's an emotional reaction and the subjunctive is also correct! 💡 There are LOADS more ways to use padre in Mexican Spanish. Check out the full entry HERE.

🌪️ When to whip it out

Whenever you want to react enthusiastically to something cool, nice, or exciting:

— Me dieron el trabajo.
— ¡Qué padre!

— I got the job.
— Awesome!

¡Qué padre que te invitaron!
It’s so cool they invited you!

⚠️ Tone

🌿 One of the most wholesome phrases in Mexican slang!

👵 100% abuela-approved.

🐜 Friendly, positive, and as harmless as an ant. NOT the Amazonian bullet ant, obviously. I’m talking about the little black ones, jiji.

✍️ Still too casual for very formal writing.
