Voy a querer…

🧠 What it means

Yep, yet another super Mexican way of ordering! This one means: 👉 I’ll have… / I’ll take… Oh, and if you’re with a group of people and it’s your turn to order just add a yo in front: Yo voy a querer… 💡 This one's mainly used in sit-down restaurants when the waiter is taking your order at the table. You’ll often hear it while people are still studying the menu: Esteee… voy a querer… = Err... I'll have... But you might also hear it at the taco stand, especially if there aren’t many people and you’ve got the taquero’s full attention.

🌪️ When to whip it out

Generally, when you’re ordering food at a restaurant:

Voy a querer el menú del día, por favor.
I’ll take the set menu, please.
Voy a querer la sopa de tortilla y una michelada.
I’ll have the tortilla soup and a michelada.

⚠️ Tone

✅ Super common in restaurants across Mexico.

✅ Sounds polite but it’s best to tack a lil' por favor to the end as well.
